Summer is 5 hours and minutes away!!

     After school gets out my family is celebrating by going to BHAC, (Beverly Hills Athletic Club). At BHAC there is swimming, tennis, a snack shack, basketball hoops, a playground, a gaga pit and a big wall that you can throw tennis balls at.  I have belonged to the club for 4 years. the best part is that you can go there with a guest. I like to have some of my friends there who are not members.


     Usually when I go to the club I hangout with my friends. I usually go swimming and play tennis with them. I also play wall ball, basketball and  soccer. Sometimes I text my friends to see if they're  going. Because it is a good way to know if their going or not and to encourage them to come. It is really boring if the club is empty. I look forward to seeing my friends tonight.

Congrats to Mr. Joe winning Michigan teacher of the year! Thank you for all you have done!

My Career I pad version continued...

Tuesday's post:

  As you saw in my last post I wrote about the NBA game on the Ps3, today I will be writing about the 2k game on the I pad! I made my player have ripped muscles, a brown goatee and brown dreadlocks because I picture myself in the future like that. I am not going to have ANY tattoos because they hurt when they get put on. My nickname is Clutch because I am good in end of game situations. I am putting my player at a shooting guard because I am good at shooting as well. A shooting guard is a player who shoots the ball often.

          I am picking my college to be Michigan State because I am going there for college as my first choice. Michigan State is known for their basketball team. I named myself Jake L****** because that is my given name. I also gave myself the number 22 because that is my favorite number. I chose the height 6'6'' because I think I will be that tall in the future.

Today's post:

    I played in the rookie showcase. (The rookie showcase is a game to determine what team you will be on in the NBA). I played very well, I scored 32 points, jumped and got 3 rebounds, made an effort and got 2 steals, passed the ball and had 5 assists. I think I played one of my best games in a long time. I had 3 draft interviews one from the Memphis Grizzlies, another from the Charlotte Hornets,(which is owned by my all time favorite player: Michael Jordan!) And the last one from the Chicago Bulls. It was a tough decision but in the end I got drafted by... The Chicago Bulls, I like the Bulls because they have Derrick Rose, Carlos Boozer and last but definitely not least Joakim Noah. I think a shooting guard like my player would fit in great with a team like that because they need an accurate shooting guard.

      In my very first NBA debut I played in the Bull's stadium and passed the ball a lot so I only scored 10 points, but I had 7 assists, most of them is where I would drive to the paint, and then get double-teamed  so they would leave D-Rose open downtown, so I would  drive then kick it out to him and he would make it! ( For those of you who don't speak basketball that means we played well!)  In that game my team played the New York Knicks. We lost because their team is stacked with players like Carmelo and Hardaway Jr. and they also have Amarie  Stoudmier so that is the only game I have played and so far, so good!

NBA 2k 15 My Career

           For some of you who didn't know too much about the game NBA 2k 15, there is a really cool game feature/mode in the game called "My Career." If you would like to know how to build your legacy there is an excellent link here to a YouTube gamer named Chris Smoove: Here.

           Anyway, let me tell you about my experience in the game. You start out by naming your player, then  your position, desired team, your weight, height and nickname. Also, you can pick your muscle tone and a real life voice and face of yourself! The game system that I play on is a PS3, and you play in the rookie showcase to determine what team your on. You get interviewed by a team and you have to answer questions the GM  (General Manager) of that team asks you.

          From my opinion I think the game is very creative to put in this game feature. It is just fun to customize your player and upgrade your player to the best of its ability. It is also cool how you get to follow your player's career. You can choose from over a large variety of player features. That is why I like this game mode.



     

Basketball Tournament # 2

          This tournament is held in Whitmore lake, I think this tournament is going to be different from the last tournament I wrote about because my team is going to be playing for trophies. I also think we need to work better as a team, because in some of the Ypsilanti tournament games we didn't work so well as a team in the area of trust. My coach does a drill to work on trust with me and my team where one of my teammates, or me shoots free throws and you have to shoot 2 out of 3 or else the whole team including the shooter has to run! I am a pretty good free throw shooter because I have studied NBA forms such as Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan.

      I think that my team has a better advantage over the other teams because we have 6th-7th graders, and the tournament is against 5th-6th graders. We are quicker, better shooters and more experienced. We also have bigger guys on the rebounds to help get them. Also, I don't think the two 7th graders will be able to play at all because they are really experienced and the referees might think it is unfair to the other team if they have all 5th graders. We have a good team chemistry in the area of passing the ball. We are not selfish and we play good team basketball. I know for sure that my team has the excellent energy that we need to win the ultimate trophy!

      To get to the championship trophy, we will have to play good as a team and pass the ball as often as needed. We need to keep our eyes up incase there is a person open for an easy layup. If we win both of our first two games, depending on how much we win by, we will be ranked first, or second, seed. If we win one and lose one, we will be ranked 3rd or 4th seed. If we lose both, we will leave the tournament. So, it is win, or go home.  If we win both of our first games, if we are ranked, then we will be put into a playoff bracket and need to win as many games needed to win the trophy.

     Tonight I am playing on the palace floor. It is very cool they let people play on it. I think playing on The Palace floor gives me energy and I think energy helps me focus. It gets me pumped up. I really hope I get to play there later in my life, because it inspires me to keep playing basketball.

      I think playing in The Palace is an honor because Micheal Jordan played on the same exact court for a long time. Micheal Jordan is one of the G.O.A.T (Greatest of all time). If MJ can do it, that inspires me to keep reaching for my goals!

Basketball Tournament


      I play on a travel basketball team called "Pistons Elite." It is  a travel team through a basketball program called "Pistons Academy." The main idea of the camp is to make yourself a better basketball player. They have seasons and camps YEAR round, no matter what skill level you are at. So, if you love basketball, go to this camp. It is very hard work, and I think you have to be committed and REALLY love basketball. The practices run for about 2 hours and the practices are 3, or 4 times a week. Tomorrow is the tournament including part of Sunday. My team plays 5 games in the tournament. Ok, you might think the tournament is for trophies, BUT IT'S NOT! It is to improve as a team. I think that's fair enough to win trophies in tournaments in the future.


      I was in a tournament before. I think the part that gets to you, or makes you nervous, is the environment.  Some things I find stressful are all the parents talking & yelling at there kids, the whistle that the ref blows on a foul or a loose ball, or the stress of the shot taken at the final second of the game to win it. But if you make it....... YOU GO CRAZY!! I remember that happening to me in a tournament before, there was 1 minute left in the game, we were down by 3. But before I go there, lets go an hour before the game started.


        It was June of last year, I was in a tournament in a Pistons Academy summer camp. "The last day of camp is today," I thought. My team was 4-0 and was about to play another undefeated team. I got my shoes tied, jersey on, and I was stretched out. I went to check in because only the starters start the game, since I am the biggest one out there so i did the tip-off and I won the tip so my team had the ball my teammate shot a jump shot, he made the score? 2-0 us. then I got put out until the start of the 4th quarter because I rolled my ankle. The score? 30-35. We were down no one scored on us and we didn't score on them. I stole the ball from a newbie and ran down the court and made a lay-up.


   Now the score is 32-35 we need a three to tie the game up or else we won't win the championship! I sprint down the floor and block a shot. I have possession of the ball then I ran down to the 3-point line, set my feet, jump and release.......I made it!!!! We tie the game with 7 seconds left. We foul the guy, he misses both free throws, then we get the ball and I pass it to my teammate. He catches the ball and makes a lay-up with no time left on the clock. We WIN!!

For memorial day I went up to my grandparents house on the lake we bought my papa some lottery tickets and said "thank you for your service!" I said that because he served in the  Vietnam war and has been shot at and actually been shot in the hand. On the back of the license plate on his car it has a purple heart and inside the purple heart it says "wounded veteran" I would like to thank every person in America who has fought in a war because wars are really scary. we played base ball with my grandmas neighbors, my grandmas neighbors have kids that are age 10 8 & 6. Then we went tubing and rode speed boats it was definitely a memorial day to remember.

Clash of clans

Clash of clans is a really fun game. A lot of people playit. It is an animated game. Sort of like mid evil times. You can attack or defend your village. Ally of my friends play it. But I just really like it pesonally. It is not one of those games where it is addictive. My brother likes it, but not as much as I do. It is for sure one of my favorite games!

Everett game on the PS3 is NBA 2K 15 because there's lots of action is an intense plays also is very organized and fun. I love other games like that in 15 need for speed Minecraft and Disney infinity.I like all the games the same except his Infiniti because all you do is run around and kill people I don't like it though. Alot of people walk into life with a question, how can I get this if I don't work toward this? The answer to that question is you can't you have got to work towards your goal. For example if I need money for a new bike and I don't have any how do I get the bike? That is sort of what happened in the second world war, Adolf Hitler invaded Poland because he wanted land and power. Alot of people died about 50 MILLION. When I hear 50 "MILLION" I think of money but when I hear "50 million DEAD??" That devastates me. because alot of good people dedicate their life towards their country. That means their whole future!

Every day I go to school like a normal kid I get pretty good grades and I do all the other stuff that a "normal kid" would do. But come to think of it I don't really like the term "normal kid" Because I know everybody is different in their own unique ways. Hi my name is Jake LaBarre, I am proud to say I am different from other kids. Alot of kids at my school have disabilities, Almost every morning I get off the bus, put my stuff in my locker and go help kids get off the bus or help put their stuff in their lockers. This time really means alot to me, Because I really get to understand the kids with disabilities and how much harder it is to just put your stuff away in your locker. For example, One of my good friends Alex, every time he gets off the bus and he sees me waiting to help him put his stuff in his locker his face LIGHTS UP, and immediately so does mine. He rushes over to me and gives me high-fives and hugs. I really enjoy spending time with other people, especially kids with disabilities so I can learn and change ny thoughts about kids with disabilities...

UNBROKEN LIT ESSAY

I saw unbroken the movie (movie poster) it was very good because it was very inspiring (inspiration) to Run (runner) and to get somewhere in life (goal) that you want to be. Also tells how  World War II (war) survivalist (surviving on a raft) went to the Olympics (Olympics) and survived 47 days at sea! (the ocean) I think the movie (people watching a movie) was better than the book but I still think it's good to read the book (somebody reading a book) before you watch movies that have a book in them. it was very cool to see our nation’s history(USA flag) but I was surprised how the Japanese treated the prisoners of war (POW’S) because they have dedicated their

life to help people it for their country(USA flag) and the Japanese beats them on a daily basis and I think that's very unfair. But I also know That America did the same to the prisoners of war of Japan. I think the very good life lesson in this book/movie is that you always never give up never give in because it's your goal you'll

be happy for a long time. I have to add to that and say that I am thankful that I did not live at that time and I thank all the people Who committed their life to their country also I think that was very brave of

Louis to not give up when he was starving and thirsty at sea.

at sea, it was very hard to survive sharks started Swirling around their raft it was very intense. I think the world of the book/movie was to never give up never give in and I say that twice, because it is very important that nobody stops on the way of reaching their goal....

ESSAY ON BLACK HISTORY MONTH EDITED

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." 

That was a very inspirational quote by the one and only MLK (Martin Luther King Jr.) For a very, very long time people have judged other people by their skin color. Many people think about our actions before we do them, yet some of us don't.  If you're about to call an African-American the N word, stop and think about what you are doing. Try to put yourself in that person's shoes. Think about what you're saying and how it will affect other people. Like eric garner who got choked to death because he tryed to break up a fight between the officer and the victum.


Ever since I can remember, I have hated people who judged someone on how they looked or by their skin color. Judging someone on their clothes or how their hair looks is just flat out rude.  But to judge someone on the color of their skin? That DISGUSTS me! They cannot change what color of the skin they were born with. I cannot even describe how upset I get when I see or hear about people doing this. For example trayvon martin who was shot beacause of his race...

In the 1960's, there were people who went to go sit at a restaurant to just eat. The people who were working at the restaurant would say "I cannot serve you." And then one of the diners would say, "Well, why not?" And then the white restaurant workers would say "Because you are black." Another example Micheal Brown who was shot because he was just a little bit mad with a officer. 

 Is it just me or does something need to be changed. Even if a protester is white protesting with an african american he still might not get served. And he may ask "why?" but they will just say "because you are with them." If I saw people getting spat on and kicked and yelled at, I would sit down with them. 


Because I to have a dream that one day EVERYBODY WILL BE EQUAL I will actually collapse trying to change this because I am sick of this happening to people who can't do anything about it. Who just sit there and take all that stuff that was said about them. But I will NOT be one of those people who sit and take it and believe that about them selves. I will stand up and make a change 
Because I to have a dream as well as dr. king who died trying to change society I also believe that this  NEEDS TO STOP...

LEGOS:()

When I was about 6&7 I used to LOVE legos I think it was a good thing to do with your time and it is mostly just really fun. But then something hit me, it was like a voice inside my head was saying: "These Legos are for toddlers & little kids!" That voice I heard, I heard it when I was about 9 1/2. But now that my four year old brother likes Legos ALOT I have been playing sometimes with him. But today I was for some reason really really interested in the small bricks and mini figures. I thought: "WHERE HAVE I BEEN FOR THE PAST YEARS?!? I LOVE LEGOS!!!" So now I am asking for some Legos for my birthday and started a collection on my bedroom shelf... Looking forward to playing with Legos!

WONDER

Hi, i'm Jake LaBarre when I read Wonder I was astounded. I can't even describe how much pain I would be going through if I had a facial deformity. It would be soooo hard for example to even walk through Kroger without at least 50 faces staring at you! I really thank August for perservering the pain and hate he is going through. I can't even phiscally descibe in words how much hatred is sent his way!!

I'm growing up in a peaceful sunny, windy, snowy and rainy state named Michigan. But August on the other hand is growing up in NYC (New York City). A VERY BUSY PLACE! They call New York City "the city that never sleeps" for a reason! I think that puts on even more pressure on August as he is growing up with a facial deformity.

I also realized throughout the book how much support they give August. They give him sooo much because they love August ALOT. I mean, every parent loves there kid alot. But think about it, imagine yourself as a kid with lots of disabilities not that auggie has lots of them. But I just think it would be very hard to live life with lots of disabilities. That is why I am very thankful.

I also really help out kids with disabilities for example the kids in Mrs. Fergusons class. I don't like Alex better then Daylan or something like that. I like all of them  equally thats what is important, they all make me laugh very hard! I really like spending time with these kids and would love to continue doing that...

I really had a fun,emotional,greatful and awesome time reading wonder. I really hope they continue writing awesome books like wonder. I also am looking forward to reading the squeal to wonder: The Julian Chapter! I really appreciate my time with the kids in Mrs. Fs class!

Fitbit

I might be able to get a fit bit is a very fun way of tracking your weight, your heart rate, and your calories burned. it is also very fun to criticize people on the app "fitbit" I am really looking forward to getting one because it will help you lose weight and criticize other people that will be fun!!! I run on the treadmill now every day my goal is to do two miles every day. I working to that fit bit!

Concussion prt. 1

Psh!!! all I could see was black! black,black and more black it looked as if it was a infinite space of just the color black... I woke up, I heard kids yelling to get noon aides. "LABARRE?!? R U OK?!?" I could hear it these voices faintly. Scotty Fieldmeir kneeled at my side "Who is the president right now??" I hesitated then thought and it was Barack Obama... Mr.Hill picked me up and put me in a wheel chair I was wheeled too the office I was passed out. I woke up with mrs.juriga on the phone with my mom and a kid sobbing in mr. hills office. I remembered nothing. I took a closer look at the kid who was crying, he was walking out of mr hills office sobbing and screaming. All I could hear was  screaming. I took a really close look at the kid. It was 6th grader Nick Johnson. He was screaming " I AM SORRY LABARRE! I DID NOT DO THIS ON PURPOSE I PROMISE, I SWEAR!!" Mrs. Juriga asked him to go take deep breaths and calm down, he screamed at her... "I JUST WANT JACOB TO BE OKAY!!"

I REALLY WANT TO GOO SEE A MOVIE CALLED SELMA IT IS ABOUT MARTIN LUTHER KING!! IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE AMAZING!! I REALLY WANT want to go see it it is going to be amazing it is about how one man can change the world forever!!! I can't even physically describe how excited I have to go see this movie!!

I I really love writing. It is a very good way to spend your time and inspire other people to write too.Mr. Joseph always says writing is power and I believe him.And I know he says it's for a reason. sorry I did not have enough time to write a full post :(

Wonder Literary Essay

Hi, i'm Jake LaBarre when I read Wonder I was astounded. I can't even describe how much pain I would be going through if I had a facial deformity. It would be soooo hard for example to even walk through Kroger without at least 50 faces staring at you! I really thank August for perservering the pain and hate he is going through. I can't even phiscally descibe in words how much hatred is sent his way!!

I'm growing up in a peaceful sunny, windy, snowy and rainy state named Michigan. But August on the other hand is growing up in NYC (New York City). A VERY BUSY PLACE! They call New York City "the city that never sleeps" for a reason! I think that puts on even more pressure on August as he is growing up with a facial deformity.
